The NSERC CREATE in Manufacturing Materials and Mimetics (M3) training program is an Industrial stream training program that takes advantage of the core research excellence of our principal investigators who are world-renowned in their respective fields and extends this expertise to practical application through collaboration with the Centre for the Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM) and industry partners.
The need for interdisciplinary training in cell manufacturing, biomaterials and tissue mimetics is due to the complexity of the science and the long-term impact of cell-based products. Cell Manufacturing and Biomaterials are core areas of the M3 program and comprise a strong and growing industrial base. Together, we will produce graduates with the scientific and business acumen to advance knowledge to industrial application.
Our graduate students will benefit from the complementary research expertise of our PIs from the University of Toronto, McMaster, and York, building on a strong and vibrant foundation of research excellence, collaboration and commercialization. The NSERC CREATE in M3 is comprised of 3 pillars: core courses, research excellence, industry experience.
We will bring best practices together for our students, resulting in graduates with Master’s and PhDs in fields of high demand and high growth – fields that are and will continue to fuel the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century. By enriching the student’s core knowledge in science and engineering with the softer skills of leadership, communication and entrepreneurship and practical experience, our graduates will be able to integrate faster into the business environment, contributing to the greater success of Canadian companies.
